Made in Afghanistan: Amini in support of Emergency
Numbered pieces and offered for sale with an accessible auction base, with the aim of raising funds to support EMERGENCY’s activities in Afghanistan. From 23 November to 12 December 2021, Amini Carpets presents Made in Afghanistan charity auction, in partnership with Catawiki: “The situation in Afghanistan, a country where we have our roots and where our history begins, has always been particularly close to our heart. With this project we want to contribute improving the lives of these populations “, explains Basir Amini, president of the company.

The charity auction offers a significant collection of the traditional textile art of this country, the crossroads of Central Asia. Like a quality brand, the name “Made in Afghanistan” certifies the origin and authenticity of the artifacts, while the label on the back of each rug certifies their free and spontaneous creativity. 42 carpets that tell of slow rhythms, of hours spent weaving, choosing motifs, colors, yarns: timeless objects, created to be used and handed down, at the same time custodians of memory and a contemporary identity.
Partner of the auction is Catawiki: “We’re really thrilled to be using our platform to partner with Amini and help sup- port free medical and surgical care for those who need it in Afghanistan. Connecting these 42 uniquely crafted carpets, their Afghan roots and colourful contemporary identity with our passionate audience is an amazing chance to support the vital work Emergency continues to do.” Says Catawiki’s Arts & Antiques General Manager Frank Engel.
