Kirman is a very old Iranian city, rich in history. Its superb weavers are mentioned by Marco Polo in the ”Million” which describes the skill for the production of textile and shawls. The designs of Kirman follows floral medallion pattern (sometimes very rich and elaborated), sometimes with ”prayer” pattern enriched with vases, trees, bushes, animals. It’s possible to find also the traditional pattern of continuous design with bouquet of flowers or Botteh. Very copious was the production for export, especially for the U.S. market. Even today Kirman Persian rugs are among the most requested and sold even if the contemporary production is not qualitatively comparable (with few exceptions) to that of the past centuries. Due to great popularity of this rug, there are many imitations made ??in other countries such as China or Pakistan.
